Dog Birthday Party Guide: Celebrate Your Puppy In Style
Posted: October 17th, 2009 | Author: sarita | Filed under: Dog Birthday Ideas | Comments OffWe’d be remiss in not discussing birthday parties for pets, as they are an integral part of our homes and lives. PamperedPuppy has a great guide to throwing a birthday party for your dog. While some of the considerations are the same as planning a human birthday party, there’s more to consider in making your pet’s birthday safe, fun and memorable!
Just as you plan the location, food, and activities for a human birthday party, dogs require the same. If you’re inviting dogs and owners to an event, make sure your home or party space can accommodate them. Sometimes a dog is like having 2-3 extra people. Have lots of dog treats, and limit dog owner treats to those that aren’t harmful to dogs. (No big chocolate cake!) Toys are also key. It’s probably more important to provide space and stimulation for the dogs than their owners, as the dogs provide endless entertainment just as they are. You can plan for an outdoor party and designate an alternate day weather permitting.
If you’re planning on inviting every dog from the dog park, PamperedPuppy has this tip:
“2. Ask yourself: how many dogs can I handle?
Be realistic about the number of dogs you can handle in a single place, as well as how well they play with others. You may want to think twice before inviting guests who don’t get along well with other dogs or other people. Nothing can spoil a party faster than an overly agressive dog trying to dominate the other canine party guests or small children who may be attending.
It’s common to invite doggie owners along with their pooch, so this may affect your decision as well. Every dog may mean two mouths to feed, so work within your budget.”
