Having seen Dolly Parton perform last year, we think a Dolly-themed costume and music birthday party is a fabulous idea. (This is the first time I’ve felt I had something in common with Miley Cyrus. Amazing!). Dolly’s wonderful sense of humor, sparkly dress and incredible musical talent is inspirational.
“And being such a fan, Cyrus and her guests plan to dress like her idol for the November 23 party.
“I want to rent out a cool place and play all Dolly Parton music and have everyone dress up as their favorite Dolly moment.” Miley explained.”

Some say a great teen birthday gift is hard to find. But today’s market provides endless new products that can support a teen’s varied interests. In fact, many of the best birthday gifts for teens, are also ones enjoyed by adults. We suggest finding out a teen’s primary interests as a starting point.
If a teen is a music aficionado, you might consider ipod speakers (regular or travel size), headphones, an itunes gift card, or an ipod dock alarm clock.
For an outdoor enthusiast, try hiking gear such as a swiss army knife, a nifty compass, bicycle accessories or stylish water bottles.
For the media junkie, a collectors’ set of their favorite books like the Lord of the Rings is something teens will keep for years to come. Special edition DVD box sets or computer games also make great gifts.
If the teen is into beauty and fashion, a great jewelry box or natural makeup kit would be much-loved. Teens also love a makeover, and you could schedule a makeover session with a cosmetologist at a local department store.
The best part of these gifts is that they show you support and encourage their interests, which teens are sure to love.

A girl’s sweet sixteen party can be a nostalgic, family-oriented event or a friend-filled, all-night celebration. Either way, a 16th birthday is an important rite of passage and there are infinite ways to celebrate.
We came across this list of ideas after the jump. While they don’t include a lot of specifics, it should help get your party ideas flowing. In keeping with yesterday’s post, you could even have a car-themed birthday party, celebrating the new 16-year-old driver on the road. If that’s too scary, we also like the idea of an intimate dinner party with friends at an elegant restaurant. A spa party can also be fun and relaxing, and a great way to spend time with your friends. Or, you may prefer a more co-ed theme such as a luau or mall party. Enjoy!
